What are the hours of each Sun Tan City location?

Sun Tan City offers over 100 locations across eight states, so you can tan when you want, where you want! Whether your ideal time to pamper yourself is right after work, during a relaxing weekend at home, or taking time out from a business trip, you can be sure there is a Sun Tan City location right around the corner. And because Sun Tan City Club Sun memberships are accepted at every location, you can be sure your tanning experience will be hassle-free. After all, you deserve your quality time to relax.

Hours of operation for Sun Tan City locations are at minimum 8 a.m. to 10 p.m., seven days a week. However, some operating hours are unique to specific locations. Because hours can change from salon to salon, we recommend calling ahead to your closest Sun Tan City to find out their precise hours of service. Remember, at Sun Tan City, we're all about you! What are some tanning tips?

Whether you're brand new to tanning or you have months of experience, it's always valuable to keep the basics of sun tanning fresh in your mind. After all, your tan will look as good as you make it. So, make the most of each and every tanning experience by keeping in mind these simple—but valuable—indoor sun tanning tips.

Stay Moisturized. Healthy, moisturized skin tans faster and maintains its color longer. In fact, using the right skin care products can increase your tanning results by up to 70%! To make sure you're getting the best results every time you tan, keep your skin enriched and moisturized by drinking plenty of water, investing in the proper skin care products, and applying them often.

Sun Tan City offers a full line of sun tanning skin care products, specially formulated for skin that will be tanning often. Sun Tan City skin care products are designed to fit the needs of your skin, no matter what kind of tanner you are. Speak with your Sun Tan City Tanning Consultant to learn more about the three stages of Sun Tan City skin care products and which would be the best fit for your skin.

Take Care of Sensitive Skin. Certain areas of your body just don't tan and exposure to UV light could easily become overexposed, which may result in reddening. Places like lips and eyes require extra attention to avoid UV overexposure. Make sure to invest in a high SPF sunscreen lip balm to keep your lips moisturized and nourished during sun tanning. Sun Tan City offers SPF lip balm at every tanning location.

It's not only a good idea to protect your eyes against UV light, it's also the law! For your convenience, Sun Tan City sells Food and Drug Administration (FDA)-approved protective goggles and temporary goggles. You must always wear some form of UV protecting eyewear approved for indoor tanning while at Sun Tan City.

Finally, what you wear while you tan is all up to you. But if you choose to tan in the nude, you should use special precaution to protect sensitive areas. Keep in mind that you will be exposing sensitive areas of your body to UV light that does not normally receive long periods of sun exposure. It's a good idea to keep these areas moisturized and expose them to UV a little at a time to prevent reddening.

Watch Out for Photosensitivity. Photosensitivity is a condition that means your skin is much more likely to redden if exposed to UV radiation. Photosensitivity can be brought on by medications, both prescription and over-the-counter, as well as from ingredients in common perfumes and makeup. It's a good idea to consult your doctor if you're on photosensitive medication and would like to begin tanning.

What is the best way to care for skin while tanning?

During the tanning process, your skin loses its natural moisture and precious nutrients. The very best way to care for your skin during tanning is to keep it nourished and moisturized with proper skin care formulas, while giving it plenty of time to finish the tanning process.

If you are a first time tanner, talk with your Sun Tan City Tanning Consultant about using the Step One and Step Three recommended lotion formulas to give your skin nutrient and moisture boosts. Advanced tanners will be best suited in choosing lotions from Step Two and Step Three for the optimum balance of hydration, nutrients and natural ingredients. Your Tanning Consultant will choose a lotion that is just right for you, based on your skin type and tanning goals.

After your tanning session, be sure to apply your chosen sun tanning skin care products at least twice daily to help keep your skin soft and healthy. But don't forget to moisturize from the inside out by drinking plenty of water and avoiding additional prolonged UV exposure. If you know you will be outside for a long period of time, remember your sunscreen.

The tanning process can take up to 24 hours, even after only a few minutes under our lamps. During that time, color continues to develop and skin needs rehydrating inside and out. For the best tan possible, take your time; build your base tan slowly while keeping your skin moisturized. When you've established a beautiful bronze base tan, you'll be glad you took your time. Lay back, relax, and allow your skin the opportunity to develop rich, golden colors the right way. After all, you're worth it.

Why is there an additional 10% added to my tanning service?

As of July 1, 2010, the federal government has added a 10% tax on the cost of indoor tanning. This tax was included as part of the health care reform bill recently signed into law. We regret that we are required to charge this tax, and encourage you to contact your elected officials with any comments.
