Top New FAQs from Sun Tan City – Is the Use of SPF Lotion Recommended?

by Victoria - 31. January, 2012 08:00

As we mentioned earlier this month, we will be bringing you new frequently asked tanning questions each month.

So without further a due, the second question for January – Is the use SPF lotion recommended?

Not necessarily. SPF tanning lotions are engineered to protect you from prolonged exposure to UV rays. At Sun Tan City, your exposure in our state-of-the-art tanning beds is controlled and minimal. Instead of SPF lotions, we recommend the use of our indoor tanning-specific lotions that promote skin moisture and help to prolong the life of your tan.

Remember, each month we’re looking to answer questions from our tanning clients just like you. If you have a specific question you’d like to have us answer publicly, please feel free respond to any of our blog posts or write your question to us on Facebook. That way, we can share the questions and our knowledge with others tanning connoisseurs just like you! And as always, feel free to talk to your local tanning consultant directly. We’re always available to help any of our clients in need!

How to Accelerate your Tan with Tanning Accelerators

by Victoria - 18. January, 2011 16:41

One step beginning tanners often miss is the importance of indoor tanning lotion. There are many differences in the lotions sold at our salons, but this blog will focus on Tanning Accelerators.

The bottom line of tanning is moisturized skin tans easier than dry skin. But moisturized skin also stays tan longer. So while there is a bit more of an investment to purchase a lotion, it is in fact an investment. Plus, your skin just feels amazing.

There are several different types of accelerators so you will be able to find one that you love. Bronzers have a slight tint of color in the lotion so you will receive a bit of color from the lotion. And Tingle lotions are great for getting past a tanning plateau by causing your skin to warm, which in turn allows your skin to receive more color.

If you would like to try a new tanning accelerator, many of them are available in sample lotion packets for you to purchase. It’s a great way to give the lotion a try without buying a whole bottle.

Got Color? Keep it with Tanning Lotion!

by Victoria - 23. March, 2010 14:23

Attention tan fanatics! You know the importance of moisture to healthy skin, but did you also know that using a specially formulated lotion just for sun tanning can help you get more color and keep your color longer? It’s true.

Moisturized skin not only holds color longer, but also actually helps you tan faster. Because sun tanning is a totally natural process of your skin reacting to UV rays, the healthier your skin is, the more quickly and evenly it will respond to UV light. And because your tan fades naturally, keeping your skin moisturized helps keep your color radiant even longer.

As an extra bonus, indoor sun tanning lotions contain natural tan-enhancing ingredients, which encourage your skin to tan and help deepen your natural colors. Apply lotion daily, especially when you’re visiting Sun Tan City for a sun tanning session, and be amazed by how much your lotion helps your results really shine!

Tanning Lotions: Do They Expire?

by Victoria - 22. February, 2010 11:18

Lotions and sun tanning products don’t always come with expiration dates. This makes some people think that because they aren’t perishable, they don’t expire—or don’t do so for a long time. You may never have thought about it, but to keep your tan looking its best, you should consider how long you’ve had your lotion.

The truth is, lotions and tanning products DO expire, but it takes a while for them to do so. While they won’t go bad the same way other perishable items do, they will certainly lose their effectiveness, which can have negative effects on your sun tanning cycle.

In fact, most brands of tanning lotions sold at Sun Tan City will remain fully effective on the shelf for up to a year. If you can’t remember the last time you restocked your sun tanning lotion supply, chances are that you aren’t getting the products’ full effect!

We have sun tanning lotion specials every month, so consider trying something new!

Don’t Let Winter Get the Best of Your Skin!

by Victoria - 26. January, 2010 11:21

Brrr! The worst of this winter’s weather is here and that means cold, dry wind that can really dry out your skin. Whether you’re a UV tanner or you like to take a relaxing trip through the VersaSpa®, be sure to keep your skin healthy and extra moisturized with tanning lotions during the chillier months. Moisturized skin is not only softer and younger looking, but it exfoliates more slowly, meaning you can retain your beautiful bronze look even longer.

Check out our FAQs page or ask your Sun Tan City sun tanning consultant for more information on all the benefits of moisturizing your skin to get the most out of your radiant glow.

Blend Tanning Lotions

by Victoria - 24. November, 2009 10:04

Blend is one of the tanning lotion lines we offer here at Sun Tan City. We are one of two tanning salon chains this company is willing to sell their products to, so it’s a great honor.

Personally, I love this line because you get great results and it’s not quite as pricey as some of the other lotions.

They have a full line, so you can get a face lotion, bronzer or regular lotion, tan extender body wash (which I use every day because it smells very fresh and clean) and a tan extender lotion.

So if you want a lotion that doesn’t have an overpowering smell, give Blend a try. And as always, feel free to ask one of our tanning consultants about this line and they can show you the product.

Keeping Skin Moisturized (the Right Way)

by Victoria - 15. October, 2009 10:20

Moisture is the secret to great looking skin. No ifs, ands, or buts—for skin that’s soft, healthy and beautiful, moisture is key. And if you’re like me and love to keep your skin sun-kissed and bronzed all year round, moisture is even more important. Tanning can dry out your skin if you’re not moisturizing often enough, so here are a couple of different ways you can keep yourself hydrated and your skin healthy.

Drink Water! An oldie, but a goodie. Water does more for your body than any other food or beverage out there. Even making an effort to drink a glass of water with every meal to get more H2O in your system will have great benefits for your skin.

Use Moisturizing Body Wash. Aside from lotion, body wash is another topical opportunity to get in a little extra moisture. For best results, use a tan extender body wash.

Choose A Lotion. Of course, the number one way to stay moisturized while tanning is to use the right lotion for your skin type. Special nourishing agents and vitamins packed into every lotion are designed to replenish essential nutrients lost during the tanning process.

Ask your tanning consultant about what indoor tanning lotion is right for you!
