If you want instant color without using a sunbed, sunless tanning is the perfect solution for you. After four to six hours following your session, you’ll have a beautiful bronze glow that can last four to seven days.

Tanning Consultant Tips: Our 5 Favorite Sunless Tanning Tips

At Sun Tan City, we love Sunless Tanning, and we want to provide the best Sunless experience to you, our customers. Here are our five favorite Sunless Tanning tips, just for you.

 

  1. Keep your skin moisturized. Moisturized skin tans better both in a tanning bed and in a Sunless Tanning booth. Your skin has many layers, and every few days, these layers shed, revealing fresh skin. However, when your skin is well moisturized, each layer will last longer making your tan glow for days.
  2. Prep your skin for Sunless. Before you enjoy your sunless tanning session, be sure to exfoliate using a textured scrub or polishing towel in the shower. This will leave the freshest skin possible for your tan. Also, make sure you shave your legs before hopping in the Sunless Booth. Shaving after your sunless tan could cause your tan to become uneven, and no one wants that!
  3. Take the time to explore your sunless options. Like with makeup and other beauty products, you have options when visiting a Sunless Tanning booth. Do you want a light, medium, or dark sunless tan? Would you like to add a moisturizing spray? Are you going to use prep gel? With many decisions to make about your sunless tanning trip, be sure to ask our tanning consultants which products or sprays will be right for your skin tone and tanning goals.
  4. Tan at the right time. Have a date in an hour? Getting ready to hit them gym or the pool? Well, now’s not the right time to get a Sunless tan. When you are planning for a sunless tan, you need to make sure that your skin won’t get wet for at least 4-6 hours. Also, you should avoid wearing tight clothing or applying makeup, if possible. All of these could smear or streak your tan, and we want you to have the most even, deepest sunless tan possible. Sunless Tanning Tip: Preparing for Your Sunless Tan

Do you want a glowing, confidence-boosting tan without the UV rays? You’re only minutes away from looking and feeling amazing with the VersaSpa Sunless Tanning system at Sun Tan City. But before you step into the booth, make sure you are ready for your session with these four easy steps.

Tan at the right time. You need to avoid water for at least 4-8 hours after you tan. If you can’t avoid splishing, splashing (or sweating) for that time, it’s probably not the best time to tan.

Exfoliate before your session to remove dead, dry skin cells. This allows the bronzing spray to absorb into fresh, clean skin. Your tan will not only be more even, but will last longer as well. We suggest using a light exfoliating and moisturizing body scrub in your morning shower. Try to avoid bar soaps or in-shower moisturizers, which could interfere with the bronzing process and bring about that dreaded “orange” color.

 

Skip the lotion and makeup. While moisturizing your skin in the days following your tanning session can make it last longer, applying moisturizers and lotions can interfere with the bronzing spray absorbing into your skin. If you do wear makeup the day of your tan, remove it before entering the VersaSpa to get the most even tan on your face. Also, use deodorant sparingly. Believe it or not, it could interact with the spray and turn your armpits a not-so-fab shade of green.

 

Wear lose-fitting, dark clothing to your session. Also, be sure to remove all jewelry and leave it off until your tan is set. This will prevent your clothes and jewelry from rubbing against your skin and smudging your tan or your clothing being stained by the tanning spray.
