Moisturizers to Extend the Life of Your Tan

Earlier this month we had a blog post on using Tanning Accelerator lotions to help achieve the tan you want. Piggy-backing on that blog, we are going to talk about Tan Extenders and why you should use them.

Tan Extenders are pretty much silk in a bottle. Well, they make your skin feel that way, at least. When a person tans, their skin naturally dries out so it is important to keep your skin moisturized to prolong the life of your tan. And Tan Extenders are specially formulated to replenish your skin with nutrients, vitamins and moisture that are depleted during tanning.

Apply tan extenders after you bathe to keep your skin moisturized all day long.

You Wouldn’t Let a Bridesmaid Wear a Bikini to Your Reception

You’ve probably marked some things off of your To-Do list since our last blog post on weddings. But if you’re anything like how I was when I was planning my wedding, as soon as I would get something done I would think of something else I had to get done.

You may not even be thinking about this right now, but if you’re getting married any time of the year when people wear bathing suits tanning lines can put a huge damper on your wedding photos.

Tanning Salon Highlight: Bangor, Maine

While it may be freezing in Maine this time of the year, it doesn’t mean you have to be as white as the abominable snowman. Earlier this month we had a highlight on one of our Louisville salons. But now, it’s time to highlight the Bangor, Maine tanning salon!

Located at 621 Broadway in the Hannaford Plaza, this salon has 20 rooms filled with any indoor tanning bed to quench your need for tanning. The Soltron Seashell is the Fast bed, allowing you to escape in a cocoon of warmth for 20 minutes. While the Ambition and Sundash are the Faster beds, which offer a bit more oomph.

For Faster and Instant members, our high-powered beds are the Ergoline Open Sun 550 and Ergoline Open Sun 1050. These beds are perfect for the person who wants quick results – you spend less time in the beds and also get a nice tan quicker than most beds.

How to Accelerate your Tan with Tanning Accelerators

One step beginning tanners often miss is the importance of indoor tanning lotion. There are many differences in the lotions sold at our salons, but this blog will focus on Tanning Accelerators.

The bottom line of tanning is moisturized skin tans easier than dry skin. But moisturized skin also stays tan longer. So while there is a bit more of an investment to purchase a lotion, it is in fact an investment. Plus, your skin just feels amazing.

There are several different types of accelerators so you will be able to find one that you love. Bronzers have a slight tint of color in the lotion so you will receive a bit of color from the lotion. And Tingle lotions are great for getting past a tanning plateau by causing your skin to warm, which in turn allows your skin to receive more color.

If you would like to try a new tanning accelerator, many of them are available in sample lotion packets for you to purchase. It’s a great way to give the lotion a try without buying a whole bottle.

Build Your Tan for Weddings

Christmas and New Years Eve have passed, which means one of the most romantic times of the year to get engaged has come and gone. If you are one of the lucky ladies to get engaged over the Holiday Season, CONGRATULATIONS!

You are in the beginning stages of planning your wedding. Making a list a mile long to secure a reception location, the DJ, the caterer, the photographer, and book an appointment with your stylist. But don’t forget about making your skin look radiant on your important day!

Building a tan takes a lot more time than most people think. Granted, some people are blessed with skin that turns into sun-kissed honey in just a few visits. But the majority of people have to work at getting a good tan.

Depending on when you start tanning before your wedding will determine which bed you should tan in. For a deep base tan, we recommend to start in the Fast Bed. This is our standard 20-minute bed that has a mixture of UV-A and UV-B rays. This typically takes more time to get a rich tan, and it is often recommended to use our Instant bed every few visits for a boost of color.

But if you need to get color quickly, our high-powered Instant Bed or sunless tanning option, the VersaSpa are the way to go.

Of course, our Tanning Consultants are here to walk you through each step you take to build the perfect tan. Feel free to ask them any questions you may have. And don’t worry; no question is a stupid question.
