Did You Know: Photosensitivity

Ever wonder why you might burn even if you wear sunscreen? You could be photosensitive! Photosensitivity is a condition that causes your skin to be more sensitive to sunlight, meaning it will have more intense reactions when exposed to UV rays.  It can be caused by medication, certain beauty products, as a symptom of illness, and can even be inherited.

Don’t know if you’re photosensitive? Talk to your doctor if you notice your skin is having difficulty avoiding a burn, even with protective lotion and moderated UV exposure.

Remember, sunburn is your skin’s way of letting you know that something isn’t going right in the tanning process. Better to be safe than sorry!

Did You Know: Tanning and Tattoos

More and more people are getting tattooed, but does your tat mean you can’t get a tan? Absolutely not! Just follow a few simple rules like those we have laid out in our tanning client care section:

Make totally sure your tattoo is properly healed before tanning. UV rays could interrupt skin that is still trying to heal and your tattoo might be affected!

Ask your tattoo artist if you’re not sure it’s time to tan. If your tattoo is not done healing and you still want to tan, ask him or her about the best way to protect your body art.

If your tattoo is healed, protection is easy! Just coat the area with a high SPF sun tanning lotion and you’re ready to go.

Sun Tan City at Indianapolis Colts Fan Fest!

Attention Indy tanners! Your Colts are bringing their travelling Fan Fest back home during the last few weeks of July, and you can’t miss your chance to get exclusive Sun Tan City swag!

Kentucky Federation of Women’s Clubs Expo

Kentucky tanners, you don’t want to miss this! July 9th and 10th, stop by the Sun Tan City booth where representatives will be giving out special offers, lotion samples and other tanning goodies at the GFWC/Kentucky Federation of Women’s Clubs Expo.

This event will be taking place at the Lexington Convention Center, Friday, July 9 from 3 p.m. until 8 p.m., and Saturday July 10 from 8 a.m. until 12:30p.m.
